About the artist
Born and based in Jacmel, Haiti, Pierrot Clerissont is part of a generation of artists who have shaped the city’s contemporary art scene. He has worked with the collective that became the Jacmel Arts Center since its early days as FOSAJ in 2003, contributing to exhibitions, workshops, and community projects.
Pierrot’s work has been shown in Haiti and internationally, including group exhibitions where his abstract canvases were presented alongside other contemporary Haitian artists
“I paint Haiti as I feel it. My work is a conversation between the visible and the invisible: the streets of Jacmel, the sea, the carnival, our rituals, and the spirits that walk with us. In my paintings, colors and forms are not just decoration—they are voices, memories, and prayers. Each canvas is an invitation to enter this space and stay with it for a while.”
